Headshot of Elizabeth GrayElizabeth graduated as an Occupational Therapist from Coventry University in 2000 and joined the Thrive team in 2021 as an Advanced Occupational Therapist. Prior to this Elizabeth worked in the NHS in a variety of settings, including 14 years in Community and Inpatient Adult Mental Health Services, over 5 years working with the Children’s Neurodevelopmental Team in Coventry, working with children and young people with Autism, ADHD and Dyspraxia. She has also worked in the Mental Health in Schools Team in Coventry and is passionate about helping children and young people engage with the school environment and reach their potential. Elizabeth is registered with the HCPC and is a member of the RCOT.

Elizabeth loves working with children and young people, especially those who may find the school setting anxiety provoking or challenging, and those with Neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism and ADHD. Throughout her career, she has promoted the needs of adults and children with Neurodevelopmental Conditions, within various NHS Mental Health services, education, and work settings.

Elizabeth is skilled at tailoring the approach and intervention used to be fun and accessible to young people and their families, enabling them to explore their strengths and work towards their goals in an innovative way.

She is passionate about group work and has wide-ranging experience of delivering groups creatively to address mental health difficulties, life skills, building resilience, motivation, sensory challenges and emotional regulation.

Elizabeth is committed to using her sensory integration skills within assessment and therapy to help children and young people learn to regulate and engage fully and to transfer these skills to everyday life.

Elizabeth is confident in assessing coordination difficulties and can offer advice and intervention to support skills development and engagement in everyday activities.

Elizabeth is passionate about creating and running a variety of workshops for parents, and training for professionals such as social care and teaching staff, to promote understanding and useful strategies for health, education, and social care staff.

Elizabeth completed her Post-Graduate Certificate in Sensory Integration at Ulster University and qualified as a Sensory Integration Practitioner in 2017. Elizabeth has maintained her CPD by attending regular training on different approaches, including Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Elizabeth’s special interests include promoting links between sensory and emotional regulation and mental health; and empowering people to discover what is helpful to them in their everyday life. Elizabeth is passionate about promoting understanding and workable reasonable adjustments in all settings so that children and young people can flourish where they are.

Elizabeth uses a strengths-based approach and practical activities to help build confidence. She has a particular interest in working with young people who have ADHD or are anxious and/or highly sensitive. Elizabeth enjoys using therapeutic horticulture and creativity within her OT practice.

Elizabeth loves to be outside, preferably on her bike or on the North Cornwall coast. She enjoys playing Mario Kart with her two children and loves singing, baking, being creative, and spending time with friends. In her spare time, she thoroughly enjoys running a lively youth group at her friendly church.
