Alison has been a Director of Thrive OT Services since 2012. Before stepping fully into leadership, she worked across specialist and mainstream primary schools, hospital wards and early years settings, experience that continues to shapes how she thinks about children, families and the environments they grow up in.
Although she no longer works directly with children, Alison brings more than twenty years of clinical insight to the way she leads and supports the service.
She qualified as an Occupational Therapist from the University of Southampton in 2001 and remains HCPC‑registered and a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
Alison’s clinical background is broad, covering children with ASD, ADHD, DCD/dyspraxia, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, and global developmental delay. That experience gives her a steady, practical way of thinking, allowing her to support colleagues. Alison’s now supports the team and the business to run smoothly behind the scenes. She’s the person who brings calm to a busy conversation, who can untangle a tricky situation and who somehow makes everything feel a bit more manageable.
Alison holds a postgraduate certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration and is an ASI Practitioner. She has also completed training in DIR Floortime (101), The Interoception Curriculum, Trauma and Attachment, Clinical Reasoning and Sensory Attachment Intervention (Éadaoin Bhreathnach).
Alison has a long‑standing interest in child development and the early years. Her current focus is on running and developing Thrive OT: leading service development, overseeing systems and operational structure, as well as ensuring the business remains responsive, sustainable and well‑organised. She enjoys the strategic side of her role including planning, problem‑solving, working with numbers as well as creating the processes that help the team thrive.
Alison is known for being warm, steady and easy to talk to. She brings a gentle clarity to decision‑making and has a collaborative, down‑to‑earth style that makes her a genuinely lovely person to work alongside.
Outside of work, she’s a mum of three and spends a sizeable chunk of her life running taxi services to various sports venues. When she’s not doing that, she’s playing, coaching, or volunteering for netball, baking or enjoying chocolate (ideally without having to share it!)
