Alison has been a director of Thrive OT Services since 2012. She qualified as an OT with a BSC(HONS)OT from the University of Southampton in 2001. She has worked in the NHS in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, working in children’s services since 2003. Alison is HCPC registered and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
Alison has worked in a range of specialist and mainstream primary school settings, on hospital wards and in early years settings. Alison works with children, their parents/carers and school staff to support participation in the child’s chosen activities, whether these are school, or home based.
Alison currently provides advice, support, and consultation services to mainstream primary schools. She has a varied caseload and has included children with ASD, ADHD, DCD/dyspraxia, Cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury and global developmental impairment.
As a director of Thrive OT, Alison regularly meets with school leaders to discuss how we can support their pupils and teachers, embedding our services into their daily routines.
Alison is passionate about early intervention and children and families having access to services in a timely and appropriate manner.
Alison completed her Post-Graduate Certificate in Sensory Integration at Ulster University and is qualified as a Sensory Integration Practitioner. She also has completed training in DIR Floortime (101), The Interoception Curriculum, Trauma and attachment, Clinical reasoning and Sensory Attachment Intervention (Eadhaoin Breathnach).
Alison has a specialist interest in child development and the early years. Alison currently splits her time between continuing to provide an expert OT consultancy service to schools and focusing on the driving the business forward.
Alison enjoys playing with numbers and figures, business planning and organising things (namely writing lists!).
